Now my children are still really young but I was ready for the oldest (3) to start school this year. In fact I tried to get her into our local preschool for the last couple months of the 2019-2020 school year just to get her used to leaving home and going to school, but I am sure all of you know exactly how that turned out.
So for this year I am still not completely sure what I am going to do. Sending her to school feels wrong and like I am setting her up to fail. I know my kids and I know that depending on what rules the school puts in place my girls will not survive in a setting like that, yet I question my personal ability to be a good teacher for them. Can I really replace school with just me?
I asked our local school about if my daughter is even still enrolled for this up coming year and you want to guess what they told me? No one will be in the office until the end of July to answer my question yet school starts in the second week of August. Ugh. To top it off the district claims that they are still waiting on the state to tell them what restrictions they will have to follow even thought the state said it would be up to the individual schools months ago. You Have To Be Kidding Me. In almost a month the schools are planning to reopen but they have yet to decide how they are going to do it...
Doesn't sound like a place that I would really want to entrust my children's education to if they are that unprepared.
So what are your plans for your children's schooling? Are you sending them to school, keeping them home, or maybe you are letting them choose. How are your local school districts handling things, are they keeping the parents informed or are you still waiting on the schools themselves to make some very important decisions?
